Green, Yellow, Red — And Its Calibration

A traffic signal the body runs whether or not you are watching — and it only works if it has been pointed at something worth moving toward.

As a person moves through the world, the body and the emotions are continuously processing far more than awareness handles, and they report the result as a felt state that works like a signal. Green: proceed, explore. Yellow: slow, caution, pause. Red: stop, retreat, or fight. Most of the processing behind it is below awareness, which is why the signal arrives as a feeling rather than as a conclusion (Emotions Are Information, Gradients, And Never Enemies, Sensing The Field).

The calibration claim is the whole of this page. A signal must be relative to something, and the canon states it emphatically: the system must be calibrated toward a worthy goal in order to function properly. Absent that, it still runs — it is always on — but it runs relative to whatever lower drive happens to have the controls: hunger, safety, belonging, fear. The signal is not broken in that case. It is working perfectly, on the wrong reference.

That converts Worthy Goal from motivational advice into a physiological requirement. A person without one is not merely unmotivated; their entire navigational instrument is reading against an arbitrary baseline, which is why the canon says it will be nearly impossible to escape anxiety and reach sustained peace without one (Aligned Will, Purpose, Quest, Commander's Intent).

The practical use is diagnostic in two directions. Read the light and ask what it is reporting (Feel → Allow → Read → Name → Ask → Move → Release). And when the lights make no sense — everything amber, nothing green, a red with no apparent threat — check the calibration before troubleshooting the signal. The instrument is usually fine; the reference is usually missing (The Dual-Axis Energy Model, Worthy Goal).
