Reading the field's answer: meaningful coincidence held as information about the work, neither dismissed as nothing nor obeyed as instruction.
The claim is modest in its canonical form. A being in sustained relationship with a Quest notices convergences — the person met, the sentence overheard, the door that opens the week the question is asked — and treats them as a signal worth attending to rather than as noise or as command. The same discernment that governs transmission governs this: open to receive, test rigorously, integrate what is genuine, set aside what is not.
Two failures mirror each other. Dismissal, which refuses the whole category and so discards information the trained being can use. And over-reading, which turns every coincidence into a directive, builds a private hermeneutic that cannot be checked by anyone, and ends by finding confirmation for whatever was already wanted — the mechanism by which a sincere person becomes unreachable.
The safeguard is the one the canon already holds for what arrives from beyond ordinary cognition: it is tested against the Logos and against Right Relationship, it is held among others in similar relationship to it rather than privately, and a reading that flatters the reader is suspect. A signal informs discernment; it does not replace it. Nothing that cannot survive Wisdom and honest company should move a Body.
