Dreaming
What the mind does when the day's controls are off — held in the canon as a practice and as a way of knowing, not as noise.
Dreaming is carried in two registers at once. As practice, it is one of the cultivation disciplines: dreams can be cultivated, remembered, shared, and interpreted, and lucid dreaming is named among the forms. As epistemology, it belongs to the family of Types Of Knowing that are not propositional — a way material arrives that argument did not produce and cannot always check. The canon does not collapse the two, and neither should a reader.
It is load-bearing because a system that recognizes only one way of knowing will discard most of what humans have actually used to navigate. Gnosis, Discernment, Synchronicity As Signal, and dreaming all sit in the same territory: signal that arrives sideways. Held without discipline, this territory produces credulity; denied altogether, it produces a thin and brittle rationality that cannot explain its own best insights. The discipline that keeps it honest is the same one that governs Resonance — the ringing invites, the testing confirms, and the reading is done in company.
In play, the practice is small and cheap. Wake and write before moving; keep the record without interpreting it for a while; share a dream in a Circle where it is safe to, and let the Circle's readings be offered rather than pronounced. The Daily Way gives the mind a question at night and collects what came in the morning. Over months a person learns their own vocabulary, which is not anyone else's — the shared symbol dictionaries are the least reliable part of the whole territory.
The canon is honest that this is unfinished. Dreaming, visioning, visionary states, and the astral are listed together as surfaced but not deeply patterned, and the interpretation of dreams is named as a gap rather than a method. What stands is the permission and the caution, not a technique.
