Closing question

Asked by the host at the end of a session, in everyone's hearing: is there anything you want left out before this is shared?

Each person answers for themselves, item by item, and only about two things: their own words, or what was said about them. No one edits another. A plain "nothing" is a complete answer and the commonest one.

It is load-bearing because it is what makes an honest record and honest speech compatible. A room that records everything and shares it unconditionally teaches people to speak carefully; a room that records nothing cannot learn from itself. The closing question keeps the record true and still leaves each person sovereign over their own appearance in it. It is the practical form of the rule that ideas travel and persons do not, without their own yes.

A Player+ answers it aloud, and hears others answer, which is part of the point: the asking is public so that nobody has to ask privately for something they are slightly ashamed of wanting. An agent does not answer it and does not answer for its person.

What is asked for at the close is elision: a line taken out on purpose, noted on the record as elided, before the record is shared. It is not enclosure and not erasure of another's words, and it is asked for before sharing rather than afterwards, because the terms were clear on the way in and there is no cooling-off.
