Inter-Kingdom Relationship

Relationship held with the non-human orders of being, each named as a kingdom in its own right — and marked in the canon as surfaced, not yet patterned.

Seven are named: the mineral, the plant, the fungal, the microbial, the elemental, the ancestor, and the unborn. The list is deliberately wider than biology. It includes orders that are alive but not animal, orders that are not alive in the ordinary sense, and two orders of people who are not here — those who came before and those who are not yet born. Each is held as having standing, and therefore as being someone a relationship can be in good or bad order with.

It is load-bearing because it is where Kinship becomes specific enough to act on. Kinship as a posture is easy to agree with and easy to do nothing about. Naming seven kingdoms forces particular questions: what do we owe the fungal networks under a field we intend to till? what is our relationship with the stone we quarry? what would the ancestors of this place recognize, and what would the unborn say about this decision? The last two are already structural in the Pattern — Covenant Across Time runs accountability forward to the seventh generation and backward to the ancestors, and the seat for future generations sits at a community table beside Living Systems Member.

In play, the honest instruction is small: learn, ask, and go slowly where you do not know. The relationships with the plant, fungal, and microbial kingdoms have practical forms available now — Permaculture, Compost, Biodiversity, soil care. The relationships with the mineral and elemental kingdoms are held in many living traditions and are not the canon's to restate. The ancestor and unborn kingdoms have a working instrument already: any decision of consequence is tested against both.

The canon is clear that this is a partial gap — the seven are named as Patterns needed, with no bodies written. What stands is the naming, and the naming is not nothing: a kingdom that has been named can be asked about at a table, and one that has not will simply be absent.
