Lean Project Delivery
The lineage beneath Integrated Delivery: eliminate what does not add value, make the work flow, and improve the flow forever.
Its founding question is simple and merciless — of everything being done here, what actually adds value? Work that does not is waste, and waste is not neutral: it is time, energy and attention taken from the Goal. Flow is the second idea: the movement of information and resources through networks of specialists, arranged so that people are not waiting on work and work is not waiting on people. Conversion — the transformations the work actually consists of — is made efficient only after the flow around it is seen.
It is load-bearing as inheritance. The whole vocabulary of production in this canon descends from it: Value and Waste as a pair, Value Stream Mapping as the way to see where each sits, Theory Of Constraints for what paces a system, Continuous Improvement as the permanent condition rather than a project. It is also the bridge that makes the rest transferable: the methods were proven on assembly lines and building sites, and they survive the journey to a kitchen table because they were never about the industry.
It is held, here, subordinate to the Goal it serves. Efficiency that optimises a piece while harming the whole is precisely what the tradition itself warns against — you cannot optimise the pieces and expect the Whole to work. Lean measured against a narrow number becomes the extraction it was meant to end; measured against throughput of the Goal, it stays a servant.
