Mythos
The archetypal vessel of metaphysical and moral truth, encoded in symbolic language and story, to orient consciousness and civilizations toward Right Relationship.
Mythos names the fact that some truths travel only in story. Not because they are less true than propositions, but because they are the kind of truth a person has to be moved through rather than informed of. Consciousness organises experience narratively; a civilization's deepest commitments therefore live in its stories long before they appear in its laws.
It is load-bearing because this system is explicit about telling one. The Great Story is the frame; The Sacred Arc is its twelve movements; The True Myth is the canon's name for a story that is also true — and the qualifier is doing real work, marking the difference between a myth that orients and a myth that captures. The Caves is the picture of the second kind: a people held by stories, ruled by words worn hollow. So mythos is both the medicine and the disease vector, and the canon says so.
The disciplines that keep it honest are named. Provenance on every telling; The LIØNSBERG Voice — be the canon, don't narrate it — as the register; the second rule of reading, that where a telling selects it says so. And Word Tools applies here too: many traditions have honed different symbolic vessels to point at the same Reality, and none of them is the truth itself.
In play, mythos is met as the smallest possible unit of the thing: a Story told at the table each week, an honest account of what happened, told so others can use it. That is the form the canon trusts most, because it is checkable.
