ReMembering How To … (the form)

One capacity per page, written to a fixed schema: name, short description, ideal state, one paragraph, longer courses, philosophy, theory, practice, tools, measurement.

A template, and an unusually revealing one. It proposes that every human capacity worth recovering can be written to the same shape — and that the shape runs all the way from the metaphysics down to how you would know whether it was working. Read top to bottom it is a descent: what this is, what it looks like when it is right, why it is so, how it is so, what you actually do, what you hold while doing it, and how the doing is checked (Pattern Card, Pattern · Play · Tool · Embodiment).

Three of the slots are doing work the rest of the corpus mostly leaves out. Ideal state asks the writer to say what right looks like before saying how to get there, which is target-value thinking applied to a human capacity (Ideal, Design To The Goal, The Living Gradient). Philosophy, theory, practice as three separate fields refuses the usual collapse of the three into one another — you can hold the philosophy and not the practice, and the form makes that visible. Measurement is the demanding one: a capacity whose page cannot fill that field has not been articulated, it has been praised (Measure everything, manage to the milestones, The Circle's Scorecard).

ReMembering rather than learning is deliberate and carries the corpus's claim about what is happening. These are not new skills being acquired but capacities a people had and lost — so the page is written as recovery, and the shape of it assumes the reader already has something to recognise (The Great ReMembering, Remembrance, Potentiality And Realization, Shoshin).

Its honest state is that the schema is written once and no page fills it. The book it belongs to disclaims itself in its third line as a chaotic work in progress, and the sixteen capacity pages that exist hold two to twelve lines of links each rather than the ten fields. So this is a form awaiting a practice — which is worth carrying precisely because the fields it asks for are the ones the canon's other card forms do not (Gaps Not Yet Closed, The 204 ReMembering capacities, Patterns Pending Articulation).
