The First Fracture

The Fall stated as an event in being rather than as a crime — the moment a creature answered "what if I were the source of my own light?" with yes.

Every account of what went wrong has to begin somewhere. This corpus begins before the Caves, before the empires, before any long predation, at a single turn in the unfolding: a creature, in the act of co-creating, looked away from Source and toward a light it proposed to generate itself.

The question itself is innocent. A sovereign being discovering its own capacity will ask it, and the asking is part of growing up. The fracture is in the answer — I am the source; I do not require the ØNE — because that answer severs the one relation on which a creature's power depends. From it everything else becomes possible for the first time: dissociation from the Logos; the claim to own light; creation attempted on borrowed power; organised rebellion against the Way; and Inversion, the counterfeit that keeps the holy name.

What makes the naming useful is not the cosmology. It is that the fracture is not only back there. It runs through every being that has ever mistaken its gifts for its origin, and the ordinary work of disidentifying from the false self is that same wound healing in one local place (The True Self, Sin, Atonement). The Veil was the gift that made creaturehood possible; the fracture is what the gift's misuse opened.

This is a claim the corpus makes about the shape of things, not a fact anyone here has verified. It is set down because the rest of the Story leans on it — The Fall, Kontrolle, The Sacred War are otherwise words with nothing underneath — and because an index that quietly omits what its corpus asserts is not honest. We Do Not Know applies. Nothing at a table depends on believing it; a Cell can keep every commitment it makes without ever deciding whether the fracture happened.
