The Healer's · Philosopher's · Writer's · Creator's Vow

The four vows that stand beside the Warrior's: one closing gate for each of the other archetypal Ways.

Each of The Five Archetypal Ways ends in a vow, and the vow is the last of its eight gates. The Warrior's Vow is written and carded; these four are named, one line each, and not yet written. They are gathered here as one concept with four facings rather than four thin pages, because what they hold in common is more articulated than any of them separately.

• The Healer's Vow — closing the Way Of Healing, at the depth where a person can restore wholeness to themselves, to others, to a field and to land.
• The Philosopher's Vow — devotion to Truth above all renderings. The only one of the four whose content is stated, and the sharpest: the vow is not to a doctrine, a school or one's own hard-won map, but to what is true beneath every articulation of it, including one's own.
• The Writer's Vow — service to the Logos through the Word. The voice given over to what wants to be said, rather than to what one wants to say.
• The Creator's Vow — creativity as service to ØNE and All. Making as offering rather than as self-expression.

The common shape is visible in the three that are glossed: each binds a cultivated capacity to something above the one who holds it. A vow at the end of a Way is not a graduation; it is the point at which real power in that Way exists and must be given a master other than the person wielding it. That is the same logic the Warrior's Vow carries for force, applied to healing, to inquiry, to speech, and to making — each of which can be turned to harm as readily as force can, and more quietly.

The vows are spoken, not signed. Speaking one is itself a cultivation of the Way Of The Word — a word given, publicly, that then shapes the one who gave it.
