The Warrior As Restorer

The one who holds the line must also be able to mend — or the wounds of the holding accumulate with nothing to answer them. And the first one they mend is themselves, daily.

Restoration is the middle face of the threefold capacity: bringing back into right relationship what has been torn, drained, or distorted (The Threefold Capacity, Healing). The canon's argument for it is durability rather than kindness. Someone who only protects and only ends things eventually carries the injuries of their own work and the injuries of those they protected, with no capacity to repair either. The traditions that lasted produced people who could hold a line and mend a wound; the ones that produced only the first did not last.

The strain is named layer by layer, which is what makes the claim checkable rather than sentimental: the body is worn by the work, the field is worn by engaging the field, and standing in the destructive face wears the soul every single time it is required. Untreated, residue accumulates, and it does not stay where it started.

So the practice is daily — not weekly, not seasonally — and it has five components. Energetic clearing: releasing what the day brought in and returning to baseline (Exorcism). Body restoration: sleep, nourishment, movement, rest, and the willingness to slow when the body asks for slowness (Rest And Regeneration, Sleeping, Nutrition). Emotional release: feeling what the day produced instead of storing it, trusting that what is fully felt completes (Mastery Of Emotions, Feel → Allow → Read → Name → Ask → Move → Release). Mental settling: deliberately setting down the day's thinking (Silence And Stillness As The Ground). Spiritual reorientation: returning to the relationship the day's work may have stretched (Aligned Will).

The trade is stated plainly. Someone who holds this can sustain engagement across decades; someone who skips it accumulates injury that compromises everything else — and the skipping always looks, at the time, like the responsible choice.
