Wellness
Integrated flourishing across every plane at once — physical, mental, emotional, relational, energetic, ecological, and spiritual — not the absence of disease.
True health is multidimensional. A person can be free of diagnosis and not be well; a person can carry a lasting condition and be flourishing. Wellness is the whole reading, taken across all the planes together, and it is a commitment to the overall health and flourishing of individuals, communities, and environments rather than a private achievement.
It is load-bearing because it sets what the system is optimizing for. Measure only illness and you build institutions that profit from it. Measure flourishing and you are forced into the six capitals at once — living, social, human, intellectual, built, financial — so that no one grows rich in money while going bankrupt in the things that matter more. Wellness is the health-side statement of the same discipline: the Value of a body is what it does to the flourishing of its members and its place, not what it extracts from either.
In play it is read at each scale. A person reads their own across the planes and does not let strength in one hide collapse in another. A Cell asks how each member actually is at The Turn, and the Circle's one-word reading on The Season Sheet is a wellness reading of the body itself. A Community cannot claim wellness while its Air · Water · Soil · Microbiome are degraded — no being is fully well in a sick society, which is why this concept refuses to stay inside a clinic.
Wellness is not the wellness industry. It is not a product, not a status, not an aesthetic, and not a private optimization project undertaken while the commons burns. It is what a Community owes its members and what its members owe one another, and its practices — Breath, Nutrition, Sleeping, Rest And Regeneration, Integration — are ordinary, cheap, and mostly ancient.
