Honor
A life lived in truth, responsibility, and sacred commitment — Integrity as others can see it and rely on it.
Honor is what integrity looks like from outside over time. Integrity is the coherence itself; honor is the standing that coherence earns, and the weight a person's word carries because of it. The two are inseparable and not identical: integrity can be held in total obscurity, while honor exists in relationship, among people who have watched someone keep their word when it cost them.
Its working form here is plain and measurable: a word given is a word kept, or a gap learned from, without blame. That sentence is the floor beneath the whole Game — the thing that makes a network of commitments possible without enforcement — and honor is simply the accumulated record of a person keeping it.
The word has to be reclaimed from two distortions. Honor as reputation to be defended produces the duel, the feud, and the cover-up, in which the appearance is protected at the cost of the truth; here the opposite holds, since admitting the gap is the honorable act and hiding it is the dishonorable one. Honor as rank produces a caste that may not be questioned; here all authority is revocable and no role carries immunity from those it serves.
It is also given, not only earned. To honor another — the elders, the ancestors, the unborn, the living systems, the stranger at the door — is the same discipline pointed outward: treating what is before you as carrying real worth rather than as instrumental. A body that honors its members generously usually finds it has more honorable members.
