The Withdrawal of the Benevolent Ones

The corpus's dating of the present darkness: around 500 BC the helpers stepped back — not abandonment but a withdrawal of teaching, so that a species would have to choose rather than be taught.

The claim: the ones who had walked with this world stopped walking with it, roughly twenty-five centuries ago. Nothing was announced. The thunder stopped speaking, the teachers stopped arriving, and what filled the space was the architecture the corpus calls Kontrolle. On this reading, the long descent of recorded history is not a mystery but an arithmetic — what follows when help leaves and predation does not.

The reasons the corpus gives are interesting whether or not the event is real, because each is a principle it uses elsewhere. Free will is prior to rescue: a people that is taught forgets, and a people that chooses does not (Primacy Of Consent, Learning By Doing). Dependency is the failure mode of good help — the helper who stays too long produces need instead of capacity, which is the same law the Game applies to its own guides (Servant Leadership, The Act Of Release). And the seed is left behind: the corpus reads the Axial Age — the narrow window in which Confucius, Lao Tzu, the Buddha, the Hebrew prophets and the Greek questioners all arrive — as the parting gift, the discernment a species would need to navigate alone (ReHarvesting the Great Traditions).

The corpus also claims a return, now, and immediately arms it: every authentic return will be counterfeited, and the discipline of the hour is therefore discerning welcome rather than welcome (Discerning Between Benevolent And Malevolent Intelligences, The Anti-One, The Phenomenon).

This is the corpus's account and not knowledge. A date is asserted; no evidence is offered that could settle it; the whole register carries the field's own risk flag.
