The door and the standing hour
How a body is reached, and when it gathers — said so plainly that a stranger can simply arrive.
We meet Sundays at four. That sentence, and a way to reach someone, is the whole standard. The door is how a person outside makes contact: a name, a channel, a link held by a human being who answers. The standing hour is when the body actually gathers — the same day, the same time, week after week, so that it needs no invitation, no calendar, and no organizing to happen.
It sounds too small to be a standard, and it is the one most often missing. A Cell with a beautiful Quest, a full Record, and no stated hour is a Cell nobody can join; a body reachable only through whoever happens to know somebody is a body that grows by accident. Naming the hour converts a group of willing people into something a stranger can walk toward, which is exactly what passing the Flame requires on the receiving end.
The standing hour also protects the The Turn itself. A gathering that is scheduled each week is a gathering that will eventually not be; a gathering that simply is survives busy seasons, absent members, and the founder's holiday. The rhythm carries the body when enthusiasm does not (Rhythm, The Heartbeat).
The door is a membrane, not a hole. What crosses it is decided on purpose: a body chooses how much of itself is visible and to whom, and a private friendship is allowed to stay one (Guard the Membrane, Selectively Permeable Membrane). What is not optional is that the door exists and that a human, not a form, is behind it (Welcoming The Stranger).
