Pass The Flame

Move seven, never optional: within a week, carry the Game to the two or three you know are ready. Their Cell is their own, not a branch of yours.

Passing the Flame is how the Game reaches anyone new. It is not recruitment and it is not promotion; it is the most natural thing in the world — come and see — said to people you already know and already trust. It is the proof of maturity rather than a growth tactic: the fruit of a tree contains new seeds, and a Cell that never passes forward dies with its founders.

It is load-bearing because it is the only mechanism of spread the body has. Nothing grows by making a center larger. One Cell planting the next, hand to hand, at the pace of trust, is what turns a table into a movement — and it is what makes the body impossible to behead, buy, or capture, because no list anywhere holds it together.

How it is played. Within seven days of receiving the Seed, name your two or three; the naming begins at your first gathering, not at the end of the season. If the week has passed, begin where you are. Give them the whole of it — The Playcard, the Story, the words — and sit with them for their first week if they ask. You become their Carrier, which never changes, and your Cell is their first Home Cell, which may. You are then part of two bodies: the double helix by which the pattern replicates. Count what you passed on The Circle's Scorecard and name the new Cells on line 7 of The Season Sheet.
