Event

One line of the Record: a small, typed statement signed by the one whose word it is, which once written is never rewritten.

I will do this by then. This is done. I name these three. I saw that. Here is our plan, twelfth version. In the widest sense an event is anything that happens; the sense held here is narrower and stricter — a happening written down by the one whose word it is, small enough to copy into a notebook and exact enough that any two people holding the same lines read them the same way.

What a line carries. A kind. An author — the key that signed it. A scope — the body it was published to. A when — the author's own claim about time, with order coming from the links rather than from the clock. A body of a few fields. Links to other lines: what it serves, what it fulfils, what it witnesses, what it supersedes, and the author's own previous line, so that each log is a chain in which a missing link shows. Then the signature. Then the identity (The event kinds, Signed key, An address).

Two plain ideas carry all of it. A signature is a seal only the holder of a key can make and anyone can check — a wax seal proves the hand without surrendering the ring. And the identity is a fingerprint of the exact text: change a comma and the fingerprint changes. Because the fingerprint is the name, a line can be copied anywhere and verified by everyone; because where it was published is no part of that name, a body that moves house keeps its whole history (Key, Provenance).

It is load-bearing because it is what lets a world be read from its parts with no centre. A kitchen table's record and a planet's record are made of the same object, so the schedule, the score and the count are all pure functions of the lines held: same lines, same answer, whether worked by hand or by machine (The Record, Interoperability, The Game Engine).

Its discipline is that nothing is ever erased. Contradictory claims both stand, and the body whose scope it is writes a Witness settling which holds there. A correction supersedes rather than replaces, and the superseded line remains, because the gap is what teaches (Every Defect Is A Gift, Zero Blame Environment).

Every key traces to a living person. An agent writes only under a delegation which is itself a line, scoped and revocable, so every line in the record answers to someone who can be asked (Player+, An agent speaks in its own name, Delegation).
