Law
The codified articulation of principles and protocols aligned with Logos, emerging from the Field of Agreements and applied through right Governance.
Law here does not descend from a sovereign onto subjects. It rises: sovereigns agree, the agreements mature, what has proven itself is written down in general form, and that writing is law for those who made it. The direction of origin is the entire difference between law as a tool of a people and law as an instrument against them.
It is load-bearing because agreements at scale need a form that survives the people who made them. A Cell can hold its agreements in living memory; ten thousand tables cannot, and without codification each table invents its own answer to the same recurring question. Law is the compression — and, like every compression, it loses something, which is why it stays subordinate to the Field of Agreements it came from and to the Spirit the field serves.
The canon's guards against law's known failure modes are structural: nothing binds without consent; every significant decision may be revisited (Possibility Of Reversal); reasoning is visible (Transparency); and constitutional change carries a high bar (The LIØNSBERG Constitution, Constitutional Protection Of Purpose). The old world's inversion — law divorced from love, wielded by those it does not bind — is named directly as what this Pillar exists to undo.
In play, most players never meet law as such. They meet the Field of Agreements at their own table, and the small number of general things every table keeps: the Minimum standards of interoperability, the The Rules of The Game, and the recognitions no body amends.
