Values as Facets of the ØNE
Values read as discoveries rather than preferences — each one a face the real shows through some dimension of form, so a value can be seen or missed but not invented or voted away.
The ordinary modern account makes values subjective: cultures differ, preferences vary, and no one is positioned to say which is right. This corpus takes the other road. Truth is a facet. So are Love, Justice, Beauty, Wisdom, Stewardship. On this reading they are not chosen; they are seen — descriptions of what is, refracted through different dimensions (Values, Axiology, Reality).
The consequences are sharp. A people that does not honour truth has not adopted an alternative but valid scheme; it has stopped seeing one of the faces. A society that has lost beauty has not chosen a different aesthetic; it has fallen out of contact (Beauty, Distortion). Diverse cultures do not hold different values so much as different emphases among the same set, each having seen some clearly and others dimly — which is why the traditions can be harvested rather than ranked (ReHarvesting the Great Traditions, Cross-Cultural Pattern Translation, Meta Unity of Meta Diversity). Values cannot be majority-ruled away; a real one remains true whether or not anyone honours it (Legitimacy, Law). And they sit upstream of the Pattern: a pattern that violates a value is by that fact not part of the language (The LIØNSBERG Pattern Language, The Anti-Patterns).
It also gives the anti-values their shape. They are not arbitrary opposites but systematic denials — organised refusals to look at particular faces, which is exactly what makes them coherent with one another (Full Spectrum Dominance, Inversion, Evil).
The risk in the position is the one it should name itself: a body convinced its values are discoveries rather than preferences has, historically, been the kind that compels. The guard is elsewhere in the same corpus and has to be carried with this page — that every articulation is a rendering, that nothing is locked, and that the freedom to refuse is never withdrawn (The Foundational Truth, Consent, Do Not Concretize the Absolute).
