Redemption
The sacred process of restoring Right Relationship and wholeness through grace, truth, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
Redemption is the movement back from a miss. The canon names four means and keeps all four: grace, truth, forgiveness, reconciliation. Grace is what makes return possible at all; truth is what makes it real rather than cosmetic; Forgiveness is what releases the one who was harmed; Reconciliation is the relationship actually rebuilt.
It is load-bearing because a body that cannot restore anyone can only expel. The system's justice is explicitly restorative: Justice in this Field is right relationship restored, not retribution, and Remedy is named as the means of correcting injustice within a just system. Conflict Transformation resolves disputes by restoring relationship rather than by producing a winner. The alternative — a body whose only sanction is exclusion — hardens quickly and loses its best people to its own procedures.
The canon pairs it with honesty about what redemption costs. Atonement involves taking responsibility for one's own past transgressions, setting things right as far as one is able, and committing to do better; that is not absolution, it is repair with work in it. And redemption is not owed unconditionally in every direction: where harm is deliberate and ongoing, Guardianship acts first, and restoration comes after containment rather than instead of it.
In play it is deliberately small and frequent. Apologizing is a named practice; mending a tension is a move a Cell runs; The Way Out lets anyone leave in peace with their lines left standing, and The Return lets them come back. Nothing is erased.
