The Four Levels Of Engagement

Protective work is held at four depths — physical, energetic, spiritual, interdimensional — and no one is permitted at a depth their formation has not prepared them for.

Physical. One body meeting another: the most ordinary face of the protective capacity and the one every guardian trains for whether or not they are ever called to use it. The disciplines are stated rather than described — minimum force, breath and body holding under load, and force released instantly and completely once its purpose is met (The Sacred Use Of Force, Composure Under Threat, Breath).

Energetic. Field meeting field without contact: holding a coherent field while it is under pressure, standing between a pressure and the person it is aimed at (Shield, Associative And Dissociative Energy).

Spiritual. The deepest layer the canon describes in ordinary terms — a guardian holding their own centre while engaged at the level where a being's orientation, not its behaviour, is what is at issue. Gated late, and not undertaken without an Elder present.

Interdimensional. The canon names a fourth depth and says of it that the capacities cannot be improvised, that the protocols are precise, that most guardians will never be called to it, and that those who are walk into it accompanied.

The structure is the load-bearing part, and it is the same structure at every depth: the level is gated by the belt. What is transmitted at each stage is only what the stage has prepared a person to hold, because a capacity engaged without the formation that supports it overwhelms the one who reached for it (Belt Progression, The Zone Of Optimum Development). The rule is identical to the one governing scale rather than depth (Operate At The Scale You Were Prepared For).

Held honestly, the upper two levels are the thinnest ground in the whole guardianship domain. The canon asserts them, gates them, and then says the protocols live in transmission and are not written down — so nothing here can be checked, practised, or corrected from the page, and no reader should build on the assertions. What is checkable is the gating discipline itself, and that is worth carrying on its own: do not operate at a depth you were not prepared for, and escalate when you meet one.
