The Incipient Link
Name the concept and link it the first time you meet it, whether or not its page yet exists. The link creates the topology; the page follows when the need ripens.
A link to a page that has not been written is not an error. It is a claim that something real belongs at that name, made at the moment the writing actually needed it. Dozens of such claims, accumulated honestly, draw a map of what the corpus is reaching for — and the most-linked empty name is, by that fact, the next page that should be written. This is how a canon learns its own shape instead of having a shape imposed on it.
The practice pairs with Link concepts, not coordinates: link the idea, not the file path, so the link keeps meaning when the page moves or is folded. And it is bounded by Semantic Capture: a name may be linked freely, but the page eventually written at that name must serve every sentence that already points there, not only the sense in front of the writer today.
The discipline is load-bearing because without it the writer stops at the edge of what is already written, and the canon can only grow where it has already grown. With it, a page can name what it truly means and leave a marked debt. Patterns Pending Articulation and Gaps Not Yet Closed are the same move made in the open, at the scale of the whole Language: the honest naming of the edge is part of the topology.
The concept is named in the Pattern Language's meta-architecture and invoked across the conventions, and — fittingly — it has no page of its own in the canon. It is currently its own best example.
