The Walk is permissive
Some walk in days what others walk in seasons. The Path is not a schedule, and returning to a stage many times is walking it.
A rule about rules. The stages exist, the Gates exist, the rhythms exist — and none of them fires on a clock. No Gate opens until it is ripe; some Sovereigns pass through a stage once and some return to it a dozen times before it gives way; the Seed takes root in its own time. The weekly Heartbeat is a common pacing reference for a whole Body, not a pace imposed on any person inside it.
This is load-bearing for a reason the corpus states plainly elsewhere: a person served in their zone of optimum development keeps walking, and a person overwhelmed or under-challenged stops. A timetable applied to formation converts a path into an examination, and examinations produce performance rather than becoming. It also protects against the subtler failure — the player who concludes they are behind, and leaves not because the Way failed them but because a calendar did.
Permissive is not indifferent. The Path is still a path, the sequence still matters, and Shu-ha-ri still holds: a form is broken only after you can hold it. What is permissive is the pace, not the order, and not the honesty — The Solo Sovereign's Grace makes the same point from the other side, that the one reading alone for a season is integrating rather than failing, and should neither force a gathering nor drift.
In the Game it shows up as what is not said at a table: no one is asked why they are not further along, and no one's season is compared to anyone else's. What is asked is the same question every week — what did you say you would do, did you do it, and what did you learn from the gap. That question is pace-neutral by design.
