Becoming
The process of evolving toward fullness of Being — the active transformation, and what the Path is measured in.
Becoming is the third face of the triad, and the one the whole vertical architecture runs on. A person is not finished. The Pattern Language places Becoming in the Sovereign's sequence between Awakening — recognising the field as it is — and Coming Home, the arrival; it is the stretch where recognition turns into an actually different life.
It is load-bearing because it is what makes the system permissive rather than judging. The Living Gradient holds that membership in any category is never binary: every living instance stands somewhere on a gradient of conformance, and the true questions are where is this, which way is it moving, and what would help it move toward the Ideal? Becoming is that movement. The Walk is permissive follows from it — some walk in days what others walk in seasons — and so does the refusal to grade people: a Belt Progression marks what was shown when it counted, not a rank a person is.
It also names the reason inner work is not optional. The Game is horizontal; the Ascent is vertical, because outer change without inner change merely replicates the old patterns in new clothing. The Sovereign Path is Becoming given stages; Education As Transformation is the sixth Element of the Pattern — form people, and people form organizations; Transformation And Conformation names the pair of directions a life can move.
At the table Becoming is measured, gently, by the gap: what I said, what I did, and what the difference taught me. A season of that is not a report card. It is the instrument by which a person can actually see themselves moving.
