Why The Grid Wins, And What Thins It

A distributed body answers each of a predatory order's four advantages with a property of its own — and weakens in five named ways, beginning with lapsed daily practice.

The four-against-four mapping is the argued part, and it holds in ordinary terms. A predatory order's advantages are not superior individual capacity; they are coordination, long-term planning, concealment, and institutional capture. A distributed body answers each with a structural property rather than with force. Against coordination: coordination at every scale, so that organisation meets organisation (The Seven-Tier Engagement Escalation, Federation). Against long horizons: a transmission lineage that operates across generations, so that a plan measured in decades meets a body measured in the same unit (Lineage, Generational Time, Pass The Flame). Against concealment: distributed attention, because what is watched from many places is harder to keep hidden (The Six Grid Disciplines, Transparency). Against institutional capture: operating outside the captured institutions, so that what cannot be found inside them cannot be taken there (Structural Immunity, Liberation and Exodus, Islands of Coherence).

That is a real argument and it is the reason distributed bodies have historically outlasted the orders that hunted them.

The five weakening conditions are the more useful half, because they are the ones a body can check on itself. It thins when people fall away from the daily disciplines — the first named and the most ordinary; when federations fragment under dispute between parts; when bodies collapse into militarism or faction and lose federation with the wider whole; when infiltration or targeted capture succeeds; and when catastrophe or displacement destroys concentrations faster than they can be replaced (The Community's Three Vulnerabilities, The Four Warrior-Guild Capture Modes, Collapse).

Four of the five are internal. That is the finding worth carrying: a distributed body is mostly not defeated; it dissolves.

The canon's own summary claim — that a fully coherent lattice is "virtually impenetrable" — is an assertion with nothing behind it, and it is the kind of claim that makes a body complacent about the five conditions above, which are where its actual risk lives.
