Commons-Tending
The hands turned toward what is held in common: the work of keeping a shared thing alive, done by the people who share it.
A Commons is not a resource that happens to be unowned. It is something stewarded, and stewardship is labour — the path cleared, the tool repaired, the ledger kept, the water watched, the record corrected, the young shown how. Tending is that labour, done regularly and mostly unremarked. The famous failure of commons is not really a failure of sharing; it is what happens where nobody tends and everybody draws.
It is the ordinary daily answer to The Parasite. Structures help — contribution recorded and never retracted, the order of the waterfall, the asset lock, everything visible — but the living answer is simpler: enough people showing up to build it rather than to drain it, and a Body in which tending is seen and honored rather than invisible.
Land-working is the canon's named form of it, and it reaches past the human. Water as commons, forests as elders, the watershed as the circulatory system of a place, the seat held at the table for living systems and for future generations. Tending here means acting as a member of the living system rather than a user of it (Kinship · Watershed).
Commons exist at every scale, and so does the tending: each resourced by its own tenth, none of it flowing to a centre (Fractal Commonsing · Voluntary Tithing). A knowledge commons is tended the same way — solved once anywhere and made available everywhere, curated, localized, and fed back (Knowledge as commons).
