Cue

The moment ready work is set before the hand most fit to take it: warning · standby · go. An invitation inside one body, never an order across a boundary.

The word comes from stagecraft, where a Q was written in a script to mark when. That is exactly the sense kept: not the work itself and not the deciding, only the reaching — the instant something ready is placed where a particular hand will see it.

The line it draws is the important part. Inside a body, work is cued: a glance at what is ready and a hand reaching for it, with no ceremony. Across a body's boundary, work is never cued — it is asked, answered, and sealed by a word given. Nothing crosses a membrane as an instruction (Selectively Permeable Membrane, Requests and offers, Commitment, Sovereignty).

Every cue carries the intent standing one and ideally two levels above it, so that whoever receives it can choose rightly even when cut off from everyone above. That is the whole of what makes a cue an invitation rather than a command: the receiver is given the why, and therefore the standing to do something else (Commander's Intent, Spontaneous Wise Right Action).

A cue to a person carries more than a cue to anything else, because a person's attention is the scarcest thing a body handles. Never a raw alarm and never cold: what happened, dated and true now rather than merely plausible; why; whose interest it serves; whether it can be undone, by whom, at what cost; and the options with a recommendation, so that a person spends a word rather than a search (Wise Right Speech, Bottom Line Up Front, Heads-up).

The name sounds like queue and is unrelated to it: one is a mark meaning when, the other a French word for a tail. The Queue is a waiting room before the Game; a cue is the opposite motion — someone already playing, handed something already ready.
