Receive The Seed

The receiving move at the threshold: what a person actually does when the Seed reaches them, before they have decided anything.

Receiving is its own act, and the corpus treats it as one. Discovery — a trusted person sends a link, you arrive, something in you recognises what you are seeing, not because you were convinced but because you already knew — and nothing more is required at that stage. No agreement, no pledge, no membership, no answer. The move is to take it in.

Naming it as a move is load-bearing because it protects the space between arrival and commitment. Most systems collapse that space: to have read is to have been enrolled, and the reader learns to defend themselves at the door. Here the space is held open deliberately — The Solo Sovereign's Grace extends it to weeks or months, and the Pledge is placed on the far side of it. A yes that was never free is worth nothing to a Game that runs on a word given.

The corpus also asks something of the receiver, which is why the move has a second half. What is received is not consumed but stewarded: tested against your own discernment, filled up where it is lacking, corrected where it does not belong, and passed on with its provenance intact. The Charge Of The Receiver states the charge in its widest form, and carries with it the limit — the sovereignty of the Receiver — that keeps the charge from being surrendered.

In the Game receiving is the first thing that happens and the thing most easily skipped by whoever is holding the door. A person handed too much too fast has been given nothing. Hand the word, the page, or the invitation — whichever they are asking for — and then wait, which is the harder half of the office of the Guide.
