Impeachment
The rightful and transparent removal of stewards who betray their mandate, lose consent, or fall out of alignment with Logos and the Way.
If Authority flows from consent, then withdrawal of consent must be able to reach the person holding it. Impeachment is that reach: not a punishment, but the return of a Mandate to those who lent it. The canon's companion name is plainer — recalling authority — and its constitutional root is the recognition that all authority is revocable and no role carries immunity from those it serves.
It is load-bearing because every other protection is theoretical without it. Term limits can be extended, oversight can be ignored, transparency can be endured. Recall is the one instrument that reaches a person who has decided not to cooperate, and its mere availability changes behaviour long before it is used.
Its two conditions are worth separating. Betrayal of mandate is a matter of fact — the steward did what they were not entrusted to do, or failed what they were. Loss of consent is a matter of standing — the body no longer consents, whether or not anything was breached. The second is the more important and the more easily forgotten: a steward may be blameless and still no longer hold the room's yes.
Its discipline is that it must be transparent. A removal conducted quietly teaches everyone that power here is settled in private, which does more damage than the steward ever could. In play, the everyday form is gentler and far more common: roles rotate by default (Term Limits And Rotation), so that removing someone is rarely the only way to change who holds a thing.
