Science
Disciplined and reverent inquiry into the nature, structure, and laws of Reality, so that what is found can be built with.
Science is the practice of coming to know Reality well enough to act on it, and then organizing what is known so that others can use it. It is not a body of settled results. It is an approach, held as Current Best Understanding, whose findings travel with their lineage and their limits attached.
What makes it sacred is the refusal of the amputation. Narrowing the real to what is materially measurable and repeatably predictable was useful for machinery and ruinous for civilization: it cut away meaning, Consciousness, Intention, and Value, which stand upstream of material form. Here the whole stack is in scope — material, informational, social, psychological, spiritual, moral — and each claim carries a signature of how it came to be known: direct observation, lived mastery, converging testimony, transmission, consequence-tracing, or alignment with the Logos. The signature travels forever, which is how a revelation is kept from silently becoming a fact, and a funded result from becoming an unquestionable consensus.
A Cell does this at its own scale without calling it science. A Quest is a small experiment: a claim about what would help, run for a season under real conditions. The Record is its data. The gap between what was said and what was done is the finding, and Every Defect Is A Gift is the disposal rule. Nothing about this requires a laboratory; it requires honesty about how you know, and the willingness to say We Do Not Know out loud.
The discipline that keeps inquiry from becoming priesthood is the same one that governs the rest of the field: no single body owns truth, deliberations and dissents are logged where future readers can audit them, and everything is open to being overturned by better evidence or wiser judgment.
