Vision

The ability to perceive the whole set of possible futures clearly, and to select among them with Wisdom — and the shared picture that selection produces.

Vision is both a faculty and an artefact. As a faculty it is seeing what could be, vividly enough to choose between options that do not yet exist. As an artefact it is the picture a body holds in common: what success looks like, feels like, tastes like, in enough detail that anyone can recognise it when it arrives.

Alignment proceeds from shared Vision, and shared Vision is forged by talking across the boundaries that separate people. Once a body can say where it is going and why, it can compare that to where it is; from the gap come the pathways and the milestones that mark the way; and from those comes progress that is voluntary rather than compelled. Top-down compulsion is, by definition, failed governance. Vision, wisdom, and voluntary association around shared goals and Values are what replace it.

This is load-bearing in a body with no one in charge. Two cannot walk together unless they are aligned; a vessel pulled in different directions is torn apart. Where there is no ruler to impose direction, the Vision is the direction, and a body that never articulates one will be quietly steered by whoever has the strongest unstated picture.

In play, Vision is made rather than announced. Every Cell asks each member how would you like the world to be?, and crafts from the answers a shared picture of what Heaven On Earth looks like right where they are. That picture is what each season's Quest is cut from, and what the stories told afterward become prophecies of.
