The Living Library
The curated index of the wider body of work — what exists, what it carries, and how it relates to the spine.
A corpus of millions of words is unusable without an index, and the index is itself a piece of work with a craft to it. The Living Library is that index: Volume XI of the Sacred Codex, listing every substantive work around the canonical spine, each with a brief account of what it carries and how it deepens the Volumes without replacing them. The library is larger than the Codex it indexes; the Codex is the centrepiece and the rest are the deepening companions.
Its inclusion criterion is what makes it a library rather than a list of everything. A work belongs if it is substantive (a body of work, not a fragment), alive (continuously developing, refined as the movement grows), complementary (deepening a specific aspect without trying to replace a Volume), and not already a Volume (no double-counting). Works that do not meet the criterion are not deleted — they are kept as historical procession, reachable through the wider corpus but outside the Library. Weave, don't delete.
The reason this sits under the learning Pillar rather than among the conventions is that indexing is a teaching act. What a library chooses to surface determines what a newcomer meets first, and in what order; an index is a Curriculum by other means. The same discipline applies as everywhere else in this Pillar: the whole shelf handed over at the door is a wall, and the Library's real work is making it possible to be handed one thing at a time, Just in time, when the road asks for it.
It is also a commons obligation. What one Circle learns, every Circle may have — and can only have if it can be found. Cataloguing what exists under each Pillar, and marking honestly what is still to be built, is how Knowledge as commons stops being a sentiment.
