The three hundred in every ten thousand — the anchors who hold a community through what is coming.
Three in every hundred is enough to turn a people. In a Community of about ten thousand that is three hundred, and the number is treated as an archetype rather than a target: the cohort who are already awake, who find one another and organize before the heaviest weather arrives, and who then hold space, demonstrate the alternative, and walk everyone else through.
They are not appointed by any centre. They are called out by the people who know them best — named, by their neighbours, as the ones they would most trust to help lead through what is coming, and receiving the invitation carried by the hands that named them. That mechanism matters more than the number: a people that has called out its own leaders cannot be beheaded, bought, or fooled by anyone naming leaders for it.
Held in the guardianship Pillar, the three hundred are the community's protective capacity in its proper form — local, dispersed, chosen for integrity rather than might, trained in self-mastery and in discernment as much as in readiness. Not an armed class but the people who will be there, who know what to do first, and who are known.
The caution is in the name. The figure of three hundred carries a last-stand romance that does not belong here, and the failure mode of a cohort that thinks of itself as elect is the one this domain names as The Dark Initiate Failure Mode. The three hundred are the ones who hold a place steady so ten thousand can get through — the least glamorous work there is.
