The Seven Moves

The breath of a Cell: Form a Cell · Weave Spirit, Hearts, and Minds · Choose a Quest · Do the Work · Celebrate, Learn, and Improve · Share the Stories · Pass The Flame.

The Seven Moves are the full gameplay loop — one inhale and exhale of a body, run daily, weekly, seasonally, and across lifetimes. They are not phases of a project that end; they are a cycle that deepens with practice, and a Cell that has run them for a season runs them better the next.

The sequence is not arbitrary, and that is what makes the seven worth holding beside The Five Moves. Weaving spirit, hearts, and minds sits second because a Circle that has not become one will not choose its Quest well. Celebrating, learning, and improving sits before the telling because what has been refined is what is worth telling. Passing the Flame comes last because the spread depends on something having actually been done, learned, and stored as Story.

How they are played. The first three moves make a body and give it work. Do the Work is where Commitment and The Record live, and where Networks of Commitments and Tightly Coupled Learning and Action enter the week. The last three return the season: Celebration and Retrospective at the turning, the story that travels, and the two or three people carried in within a week. A Cell that stops at move six dies with its founders; the seventh is never optional.
